Many dead, several hundreds injured after train accident in Odisha; Coramandal Train Accident
NEW DELHI: At least 50 people are feared dead and over 350 injured after a three-way accident between Bengaluru-Howrah superfast express, the Coromandel Express and a goods train, on three separate tracks, occurred at Bahanaga( Next Stop Soro) in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday.accident between Balasore and Soro place Bahanaga.

Coromandel express accident live: Coromandel, Bengaluru-Howrah Express trains derail, hit goods train; over 350 injured, several dead
Over 300 people are injured and several dead as Coromandel, Bengaluru-Howrah Express trains derailed and hit a goods train at Bahanaga station in Balasore district of Odisha. Many passengers were trapped in the overturned coaches of the superfast train. Quoting preliminary reports, a railway official said that the Coromandel train, involved in the accident, was moving on the mainline. Rescue operations are underway.
A railway official said that 3-4 coaches of 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah superfast express travelling to Howrah, derailed at Bahanagar Bazar and fell on the up line. “These derailed coaches collided with 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express and 10-12 of its coaches capsized too,” he said.
A goods train was also involved in the accident as the coaches of the Coromandel Express hit its wagons after getting derailed, the official said.
The accident occurred around 7 pm, about 255 kms from Howrah, he said.
Around 300 injured people have been sent to nearby hospitals so far. An official statement from the railways has confirmed two deaths.
Rescue operations are underway and will likely continue through the night.

Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik is monitoring the situation from the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) control room in Bhubaneswar. “I have just reviewed the situation about this truly tragic railway accident. I will be visiting the spot tomorrow morning,” said Patnaik.
